Migratory Bird Day, 2023

This years Migratory Bird Day was a great success, again. In the shelter we had displays from the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance, our Summer Nature Program, Nature Alberta, the City of St. Albert and Wagner Natural Area Society (it’s a fen not a bog). Out on the boardwalk Clarin Nobleza and Habba Mahal from the City of Edmonton Pest Control Lab were doing pond dipping, and Wild Outside  (Canadian Wildlife Federation) was demonstrating The iNaturalist app and citizen Science.  Michelle Holland was with Tracy, Ethan and Eman. The undoubted star of the show was Vinnie the Falcon (and his handler Gordon Cort). And George Barnes brought his gaggle of ferrets, which everyone loves (what’s furry and slinky with beady eyes and claws? Yup, you guessed it, a ferret). And of course, our wonderful traffic control team of Al Henry and John MacKenzie.
