BEAUTIFUL BIG LAKE

Lyrics Composed by Peter Jansen (Socan)

Beautiful Big Lake, right early in the morning
There's the first quack - a-heralding the dawn,
The sun's coming up - and everyone's a callin'
From that little piece of heaven to which they all are drawn.

Beautiful Big Lake attracts from far and wide
Some are passing through, others come and bide awhile
Every year they come, with babies yet unborn
To that little piece of heaven to which they all are drawn.

Why can't it always be this way?
Why do they have to interfere?
I don't understand what some people planned when they said,
"Let's put a freeway here!"

Beautiful Big Lake - Just as the sun goes down
The ducks are settling contentedly and sleep;
Little do they know their world could soon be shattered
With noise and pollution and mountains of concrete.

Why can't it always be left alone?
Why do we have to interfere?
This one Special Place doesn't need the human race
Why must they build right here?!?

Beautiful Big Lake, a gentle place of beauty
Should be preserved for generations yet unborn
So they can grow in harmony with nature
By that little piece of heaven to which we all are drawn.
